I'm sure the cold will fade with the years, and what will remain will be only the incredible feel of touching a dolphin, looking eye-to-eye with a flamingo, feeling like I'm almost floating while wearing a 70-pound dive helmet under water, and watching a sloth up close without a glass barrier between us. Aside from being too cold most of the day despite the full wetsuits, we had an awesome time. We could have skipped them and just lounged around in the warm water areas or snorkeled with the rays in the cold water, but we chose to pack the day with four add-ons to meet as many animals as we wanted to. If you wear glasses, they do offer free prescription google rentals which is nice and my husband took advantage of the offer.Īmazing animal encounters are what we wanted, and exactly what we had. We just like a place that can lock up our stuff and some place private for when our son naps so we opt for a cabana. You can easily find a place to sit and they have lockers available. Precovid and afterwards, there isn’t a need for a cabana. Just be cautious on the cabana as you may not see your host and have to go and get your own drinks. I would still highly recommend to go and think it is worth the money to go. We spent the end of our day in the fresh water pool which we wished we would’ve moved over sooner as the water was a lot warmer there and it was a colder day in Orlando. We spent most of our day snorkeling around the grand reef with the fishes. Even though it was our second time there, we still enjoyed our time there as if it’s our first time. The bar was just further down than a quick go and grab your drinks type stuff. It would’ve been better if our host was more present to refill our drinks as that is part of the service for a cabana but we were able to get our own drinks. Once when we got to our cabana and when we were about to leave. We did get a cabana again and our only compliant was that we only ever saw our host twice. Before covid, the crowds were light and I feel that it was even less people there now with covid. They were not required in the pools or if you’re walking from one pool to another. Mask were required whenever you go into a building such as the cafeteria or bathrooms. They make you sign up for a lunch reservation but you can go for food anytime you want. We opted not to do any of the extra stuff this time since this is our second time here. This is our second time at Discovery Cove and the first time returning after covid. The smiles on my teenagers' faces were priceless. Once we saw the experience we changed our minds and were lucky enough to get a last minute slot (the staff was very helpful). Originally we did not sign up for the dolphin swim since we have done similar things in the past. Our teenagers did the Animal Trek and enjoyed that immensely especially since it was especially cold out and the small mammals (sloth and armadillo) had to stay inside. I don't know if it is common but SeaVenture actually made my husband quite nauseous. We participated in the SeaVenture which was very interesting and fun but is a little disorienting. I am terrified of birds and even I enjoyed the aviary - the birds were no where near me since everyone else had food. In terms of included activities, the aviary and lazy rivers were the biggest hits. All of the food was plentiful and delicious. We received super comfy masks on arrival. The entire park is immaculate with tremendous attention to detail. This was an amazing day for our extended family.
